Summary
Choose your departure date (at least 30 days in advance, on a weekday).
Complete the check-out form in our App, under the “Leaving us?” section, and provide your bank details for the deposit refund.
You will receive an auto-generated notice email to officially confirm your request.
If needed, you can shorten your notice period by finding a replacement.
As a Wellow tenant, you can leave your room at any time, provided you give a 30-day notice. This is a legal requirement in France.
The request must be made directly in your Wellow App profile, via the button:
➡️ “Leaving us?”
Here are the mandatory steps in the procedure:
1️⃣ Choose your departure date
You must select a date at least 30 days after the day of your request (otherwise the system will automatically adjust it to the nearest valid date).
You may give notice earlier if you already know your departure date — this is encouraged!
Important: Your end date must not fall on a weekend or public holiday. No check-out inspections are carried out on those days. In that case, your inspection will take place the working day before, and you’ll need to vacate the apartment after it. However, your notice period will not be shortened, and rent will still be due until the final day of the notice period.
📌 Example: If you submit your form on July 17, 2025, avoid choosing August 16 (exactly 30 days later, but a Saturday). Instead, choose August 18 to cover the full rental period.
2️⃣ Complete your check-out form via the Wellow app
Once your departure date is chosen, fill out the form in the “Leaving us?” section of the app. This is essential to:
Provide your bank details for the security deposit refund.
Officially confirm your departure.
Access the next steps and book your check-out inspection appointment directly through the app.
👉 If you cannot access the app, update it from the App Store. If the issue persists, email us at [email protected].
3️⃣ Send your notice email
After completing the form, you will receive an auto-generated notice email. This email officially confirms your departure request.
You will then receive a confirmation email with the details of your departure date and acknowledgment of your notice.
4️⃣ Organize your check-out inspection
14 days before the end of your notice, you’ll have access to a calendar in the “Leaving us?” section to choose your inspection slot. If no slots are available on your departure day, email us at [email protected].
7 days before the end of your notice, you will receive an email with tips to prepare the apartment and avoid deductions from your deposit. If you wish to get this information earlier, please contact us.
5️⃣ Carry out your check-out inspection
Be available at the scheduled time to welcome the inspector (a Wellow team member or someone appointed for this task).
The inspection usually takes about an hour (longer for larger apartments).
If you cannot be present, another person may represent you (ideally a flatmate).
At the end of the inspection, you will be required to hand over your keys and vacate the apartment.
📌 Note: You are not obliged to stay in the apartment until the last day of your contract — you can leave earlier if you schedule your inspection sooner. However, rent remains due until the official end date of your lease.
Want to leave earlier? 🤔
It is possible to shorten your 30-day notice period under one condition:
You must find a new flatmate ready to take over your room.
If this person meets Wellow’s guarantor requirements and completes their application (submitting all documents, paying move-in fees, and signing the lease) at least 7 days before your desired departure date, we can shorten your notice and allow you to leave earlier than the legal period.
